Summer Vacay 2009

This year, for the second year in row, we took our summer camping trip to Roaring River, Missouri!!! We had a blast last year and just as good of a time this year! The only downside is that unlike the entire week we spent there last year, we only had 3 days this time around. We planned on leaving early Thursday, the 2nd but due to a last minute baseball tournament, we couldn't leave until that evening after the game. We pulled into camp at 2am and set up our tent ASAP and went to bed. Two other families accompanied us and we all had a great time. There were four boys around the age of 7, two boys who are almost 3 and then Mr. Britton, who is 19 months. One of the families was just a father and son because that wife/mom isn't a fan of camping so there was only myself and one other mom...we were greatly outnumbered but are obviously used to it having all boys! Friday morning I made French Toast for breakfast and then while Ryan and I finished setting up camp and one of the dads cleaned the dishes, the other parents took the boys to the Fossil Hunt program. Brandon participated in it last year but had a blast this year having friends to go "hunting" with. After chicken fajitas/quesadillas for lunch we relaxed a little and then all loaded up and went to Roaring River Water Slide. It's a cement slide built in the side of the Ozark Mountains. That's something we didn't do last year because Britton was so small and it was so much fun!! Blaine and I just sat and went down "normal" and Ryan and Britton did that too but the boys had so much fun chasing each other down. We got back to camp in time to start preparing the steaks, baked potatoes and corn on the cob and then all took showers and hit the sack. It had been a long day. The next day, our last full day, included more swimming and fishing, relaxing and a snake show, oh and of course more great food with eggs, bacon, biscuits and sausage, sloppy joes and chicken parmesan!! A great time was had by all. The other mom who went was not sure about camping but as we were cleaning up from cinnamon rolls the last day and starting on the deep dish pizza, she informed us that we needed to fill them in on all that was needed for a good camping trip!! Her husband was beaming! He later told Ryan that he was so happy that we had converted Kathy to a camper because she wasn't sure at first. We are always open for company!

I realized as I was putting the slideshow together that I did a poor picture-taking job this year.

Obviously this vacation post is 2 1/2 weeks behind. I hope to post Blaine's 3rd birthday and our Red Sox game SOON!

my lucky day!!

I have a good friend, Amanda, that I have been friends with since we were young, growing up in church together and she is sooooooo creative! Amanda is a math teacher but she has a special crafty talent and has been putting that talent to use during her summer break. I love seeing what her "project of the week" will be each week and I am going to buy some of her baby items that she has sewn for our little princess!!! Anyway, she had a giveaway this last week and I entered my name, not expecting to win and I did!! I was so excited!! She gave away a very cute and very handy wristlet! I LOVE IT!! It is so handy! I took it with me to the Red Sox game in Texas Monday night! Here is her store! Check it out, she has some GREAT stuff!

Princess Baby update!

I went to the doc today! I am always super excited and anxious to hear baby girl's heartbeat. She was not pleased with the doppler that was chasing her all over. I suppose she felt her personal space was being invaded. Anyway, after kicking me a few times she finally settled and allowed the nurse to take it. It was 148 bpm! She kicked me once it was taken off my stomach, for good measure. The doc came in after and she had good news and bad news... bad news is that I cannot go to Arkansas in late September to a B&B that the adults in my family were going to meet at. Ryan was going to get me tickets to see Taylor Swift in Little Rock while we were there that weekend but doc said it was too close to D-day and too risky. I was bummed but then we talked about when the princess would arrive. She is going to induce the week of October 19! EEEEEEEEE! It seems like far away but I cannot believe it's already July so I know it will be here before we know it!
Next appointment is July 29 and I will take the dreaded glucose test.....BLAH! I am not excited about that but I will get to hear sweet baby girl's heartbeat and we'll be one more month closer to meeting her!
We leave TOMORROW for vacation!!!! I am sooooooooo excited and soooooooooo ready to lounge in the hammock! I actually went and bought a swimsuit today. This is a first for me, I have NEVER in the last three pregnancies swam but I figured it would be pretty hot and I may need to cool off. We'll see though. I didn't actually buy a materity suit since I knew this would be the last baby I have but I got one that will work, a tankini that is a little loose.

Happy 4th of July to everyone!!
God Bless the USA!
