Brandon is 9!

Brandon is 9 years old. 1 year from double digits (and as his father gets a thrill from informing me, halfway to voting age.) Since his birthday was April 23 I don't quite cry so easily about it, until I start looking at his picture.
9 years old
Gosh he looks so handsome and so old. He is most definitely Ryan's mini-me. He is tall, all legs like his dad but he has a tender, caring heart like his mama!! As I have posted many many times, his number one love is books followed closely by the Red Sox. Brandon is so smart and loves to tell us each night all about what he learned in science or social studies.
Speaking of his tender heart, Friday night before supper during his prayer he prayed for a young boy named Cayson. After we all said "amen" he told us that Cayson was a friend of Jackson (Brandon's BFF) who had a bad asthma attack the night before. I just love that boy.
For Brandon's birthday he's pretty much been celebrating since the beginning of April. He received a new camping backpack before a campout the first weekend in April. His BFF Jackson spent the night the weekend before his birthday. We took him out for his birthday breakfast on his actual birthday and this weekend took him to the city for the one thing he wanted to do...ride go-carts.
at his birthday breakfast
ready to drive. I was nervous.

did I mention that I was a nervous wreck?
he finished (and survived) his first drive, now watching dad

there was a water gun for watchers to spray the riders and a boy was getting them while they were waiting to be unhooked.

I love B1's smile. He's one happy boy.
rock climbing!
I know about the harness and all but I was so scared.
He went to the top!!! And just as Ryan and I guessed, he would climb to the top but wouldn't let go and "fly" down. He climbed down just as he had climbed up. Bless his heart he didn't look down either way. We were both so proud of him!

And another way of putting it, he's halfway to being considered an actual adult too. Isn't that awful? I can't stand it either. And this first half went so fast too, so how fast is the next half going to go. It looks like he had a super fun birthday. Noah loves go-carts too.
