Our B2, Blaine Jackson turned 5, a whole hand, Tuesday, the 19th. The day before his birthday I enrolled him in Pre-K. He is getting much too old, much too quickly. Blaine was our baby that we so desperately waited, yearned and prayed for. It took 2 years (believe it or not!compared to the close ages of the last two.)
B2, not only because of his blond hair, fair skin, light eyes but easy-going-ness, passive nature, life-loving with huge guffaw laughs, is very different from his siblings. Blaine has a big personality and is not afraid to show it. Ryan thoroughly enjoys watching baseball with him because he cheers at the right time, say when a strike is called or a homerun is hit but the kicker is, he cheers when either team gets a strike or hits a homerun, even if it's against the Red Sox. Regardless it's hilarious and he is totally into the action. He loves watching movies and I love watching them with him because he lets out his huge belly laughs at all the right spots.
He is a talker, a LOUD talker, just like his mother, which very well may be an issue in school. I'm seeing bribery in the future to get him to zip his lips. A cat worked for me when I had the same problem in first grade... Blaine is an inquisitive little guy and isn't afraid to ask anything that comes to mind and if Ryan mentions needing to mow the grass or do something, Blaine reminds him daily until it's done. He's our elephant, he never forgets. anything.
So for his fifth birthday he wanted a Jake and the Neverland Pirates birthday party. He originally asked his dad to build a pirate ship for the front yard that everyone could dance on. The boys dreams big, that's all we can say. We had to break it to him that his dad was not blessed with talents of a carpenter and he quickly came up with the splashpad as an acceptable alternative. thank goodness. It actually was a great location for a party. Continuing along the "dream big" line, I asked him what he wanted me to fix for his birthday supper, since we always take the kids out for a birthday breakfast, and I was expecting the usual request for homemade pizza. No. His requests were as follows: grilled chicken, baked potatoes, cooked carrots, strawberry jello salad and cake bites. a very mature meal that Ryan and I got a good chuckle from.
When asked what he wanted for his birthday 2 things were always mentioned, to more than just us, a pirate ship (he never specified the size of the ship as a gift) and a rocket. Ryan and I got him both as well as a new Boston hat that he saw and asked for and clothes, which makes him very happy! There is never a dull moment with B2.never. He is our goofball and we wouldn't have it any other way.
