realization

I realized today just why I never take all three boys out in public by myself (as if I really needed a reminder.) I had been dreading this trip since I decided what type of invitations to use for Britton’s first birthday celebration. My “brilliant” idea for his music themed party was to use plastic horns as the invites. As a result, I couldn’t just drop them in the drop box behind the post office, it required me actually going in, which I avoid at all costs but today I had no choice. I could have waited until Saturday morning when Ryan would be home with the boys but that is only a week before the party and that wouldn’t be good. So today was the day. I picked Brandon up from school first. Walking into the post office I carried both little boys inside and Brandon carried the invites. The boys were both content being held so I thought so far, so good. Well we walked in and there was of course a line. We are standing in line, I’m still holding both boys, Brandon standing next to me, still going well. It’s finally our turn and I give the envelopes to the lady while she totals up the cost. Well I had to set Blaine down to get my debit and that is when it all went downhill. Blaine is usually my best behaved child….NOT today. He takes off running full speed to the other end of the post office. Britton then decides that he would “entertain” everyone with his squealing and the whole time Brandon is standing there tapping my arm saying “mom, mom, mom, mom, Blaine…” that is really all I know he was for sure saying because I couldn’t hear him over Blaine screaming and running around and Britton shaking my keys and squealing. Oh my goodness, the lady of course to me seemed like she was moving so slow and I was so ready to get the heck out of there. I mistakenly turned around and there were two ladies from our church. OH JOY! They both just smiled and I can just imagine what they were thinking. This whole time I was half expecting the postmaster to come out and scold me or for DHS to be waiting outside. I have never been so happy to get in the car and leave a place. Talk about a nightmare, unfortunately my fears about the trip came true.

Aw! I'm sure it seemed a lot worse to you than anyone else. If you ever need to drop the boys off so you can run somewhere, feel free to! We are just a few blocks from the post office. :)

OH I know you make it sound horrible but your kids are always so well behaved! You should see some of these kids in the playgroup I'm in, I want to strangle them and they aren't even my kids! If they were thinking anything at all, they were thinking, that Mom has her hands full! :)
